Tsien, Richard

is a Professor of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Stanford University, Palo Alto/USA, and member of the U.S. National Academy of Science and is a leading expert in the field of ion channels. He has elucidated important molecular mechanisms for key biophysical properties of calcium channels and discovered several new ion channels, which have become pharmacological targets.

Kubinyi, Hugo

is Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Heidelberg and advisor to the Chair of the QSAR and Modelling Society. In addition, he is a member of several scientific advisory boards as well as a member of the editorial boards of a number of scientific journals. From 1987 until his retirement in summer 2001, he headed the Molecular Modelling, X-ray Crystallography and Drug Design group at BASF.
