The molecular targets for the extensive drug discovery programs are recruited from two major protein families: G-protein-coupled receptors and aspartyl proteases. The G-protein coupled receptors are located on cell surfaces, the endothelin receptors ETA and ETB are members of this family. Aspartyl proteases act as biological catalysts. Both families play important roles in human pathologies.
