Excellence and dedication
|
| |
|
Atelion’s employees are united by one common goal:
|
| |
To turn scientific knowledge into medical products satisfying a high unmet medical need. It is this shared sense of purpose that enables our more than 500 employees of 20 different nationalities to work together across time lines and cultural differences.
Our employees have always shown remarkable abilities as team players and commmunicators. Having played an essential part in the company’s growth, they now embody and perpetuate the innovative and creative spirit on which the company was built. This spirit, coupled with broad empowerment, helps us bring new and innovative drugs to the market in a quick and efficient manner.
The commitment to empowerment also requires a review of operational processes on a continuous basis. Our employees are committed to good management practices, encouraging tight cost control without hampering the level of innovation and initiative necessary to develop high-quality drugs in minimum time.
Actelion’s employees are committed to excellence in everything they do. Only by performing at the top of our profession can we enable the company to reach its objective, the creating and marketing of superior drugs.

Strengthened corporate functions
|
| |
In order to reinforce corporate functions, a New Business Development (NBD) Team capable of global activities was established in 2002. The team evaluates potential business projects such as the in-licensing of late-stage development or marketed products in fields comparable to our marketing and sales activities, the out-licensing of projects, and mergers and acquisitions. Responsible for
Actelion’s business intelligence, the NBD Team also has the objective of optimizing value in the PAH market and maintaining focus on the company’s current pipeline.

In 2002 Actelion built up an integrated drug discovery and development complex, with capabilities in pharmacokinetics, metabolism, galenics and pre-formulation. The company’s quality control laboratories have now been certified to the “Good Manufacturing Practices” standard, making it possible to monitor and certify the consistency of pre-clinical and clinical supplies provided by external partners. In addition, in the field of pharmacology, a specialized group for Alzheimer’s disease research was established. |
